What is Expedia?

Expedia is a one-stop online shop for travel needs. The headquarters of this travel agency is located in Singapore but they can gather deals from hundreds of travel companies all over the world. It allows you to book airline tickets, hotel reservations, cruises, vacation packages, and car rentals in just one website.

To start using Expedia, all you need to do is to fill in the initial details that they need to find appropriate deals to show you. Expedia will display all the results in a single page. On each listing, you will see a few details about the deal including time, date, location, company name, and the price. Clicking on a certain deal will lead you to a web page with more specifics and an option to book.

Booking is easy. You only need to fill in a form with personal booking details and billing information. A confirmation email will be sent to you to complete your booking.

What is Expedia Membership?

Signing up for an account with Expedia is not required for users but it can give you exclusive perks.

You can save your general booking and billing details so you won’t have to key in the same information every time you book. You can also enjoy their loyalty program, Expedia+. As a member, you can earn up to 2 points for every dollar spent on bookings except for flights where you earn 1 point for every $5 spent. When you’ve earned at least 3,500 points, you can use them to get discounts for future bookings. You also have the option of donating it to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

What makes Expedia+ unique is that they classify their members in three different levels. Each member starts at the +blue level. After spending $5,000 or booking 7 qualifying nights, a member will advance to the +silver level and enjoy more perks including access to exclusive amenities, unique offers, 24/7 customer service, concierge services, and 10% more points than what non-members earn. The last level is +gold and they enjoy all the perks that +silver members have plus hotel upgrades and 30% more points than what +blue members earn.

Undoubtedly, Expedia is a great online destination for logistical travel needs. However, as with other travel agencies, Expedia is only the middleman between you and the hotel, airline, cruise line, etc. For any inquiries or clarifications, it would be wise to contact the company involved directly. Double check with their terms and conditions to avoid having problems on your travels.

You can access Expedia at www.expedia.com. Their website is up and running 24/7.
